Die Moderne Salon-Magie, Carl Willmann (Leipzig : O. Spamer, 1891)

This pictorial cover features theatrical and floral elements with the usual cards, birds and magical symbols. Rather than a performer, which was common for covers of this era, magical apparatus takes centre stage. This perhaps reflects Carl Willmann's business of inventing and manufacturing apparatus, automatons and equipment for illusions. He also founded the first German language magic periodical, Die Zauberwelt, in January 1905.
