Collected Magic, Percy Naldrett (Portsmouth: The author, 1920)

The bold graphic image of the sphinx backed by rays of a rising sun on this cover suggests mystery and reflects trends of the use of Egyptian imagery and symbolism in magic. Much of this was associated with London’s Egyptian Hall, “England's Home of Mystery". It was the home Maskelyne and Cooke alongside many other performers of Magic. The author, Percy Naldrett, was also a poet and editor of The Magic Circular, which he printed in his garden shed.
