Blackstone's secrets of magic, Harry Blackstone (New York: G. Sully, [c1929])

This cloth printed cover uses black and white to create a striking and spooky image, with a shaft of light promising the revelation of secrets within. The slightly macabre theme of the cover was perhaps fitting for Harry Blackstone Snr, a magician whose acts included a version of "sawing the women in half" using an electric circular saw and who appeared in mystery comics and radio series.
