London triptych

Kemp. J (2010) London Triptych. Myriad.

How and where did you access it?

I came across this book by accident on a book flea market in Berlin while browsing for something to read on a train to the Baltic Sea.

How did it make you feel?

I was overwhelmed by the elegant, eloquent, explicit, expressive way the author used the characters in these 3 intertwined stories, their language adapted to the relevant decades of their lives against the historical background of gay/queer identity throughout 100 years in London (from Victorian time to the 80ies). It got me soaked into the stories so closely linked to those narrated to me by my idols (Oscar Wilde - in his works , my great-uncle - about his life as a young gay man in the 50ies, and one of my best friends in the early 90ies and his debaucheries in London).

Did you share it?

Yes, gave it as a birthday present to another friend.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us about it?

Look for it, get it, read it. Get a glimpse behind the scene(s).
