Representing LGBTQ Online: An Introduction to Editing Wikipedia

In the past year, Wikipedia's pages on LGBTQ culture in the UK have been read more than 100 million times. Wikipedia is the encyclopaedia anyone can edit and you can help the world find out about LGBTQ subjects. Come and join Senate House Library and Wikimedia UK to learn how to be a wiki editor. 

Reference works and expert help will be on hand from Senate House Library, and training and support will be provided by Wikimedia UK, so no prior knowledge of editing Wikipedia is necessary. 

Event itinerary:  

09:30 - Coffee, set up, and registration 

10:00 - Introduction to Wikipedia editing, and making your first edits 

13:00 - Break for lunch 

14:00 - Hands on editing with one-to-one support from trainers 

16:30 - Recap what people have been working on during the session 

17:00 - End
