Collection strengths in the historical and critical aspects of film and media, biographical coverage of European, U.S., Latin American and some Asian cinema, film theory and criticism, aesthetics and practical aspects of film making such as screen writing and film production, general media and television studies, the history of journalism, newspapers and periodicals, historical, critical and theoretical coverage of the theatre, and performance art and theory.


Film and Media books are located on the 5th floor.

Print periodicals

  • Recent issues of periodicals are on display in the Periodicals Room (North Reading Room), 4th floor.
  • Most back issues of periodicals and some monographs are shelved in the stacks. These will display the location Stack Service. Please request these through the Catalogue using the Fetch Service.


Finding articles

You can search multiple journals at once using electronic resources such as the International Index of Performing Arts (IIPA), JSTOR, or Academic Search Complete.
